Soul Midwife-End of life support & companion

Embracing Life's Final Chapter with Compassion, Weaving Loving-Kindness & Wisdom into every moment. Soul Midwives sit in the uncomfortable so you can feel comfort.

Hello and welcome. I’m Deborah and I’m a Soul Midwife - End of Life Support, previously a Nurse of decades and specialised in community palliative care. On my chosen path it’s an honour to be in service and to support you and your loved ones as each navigate and traverse the journey of death and dying and beyond.

what is a soul midwife ?

Soul Midwives are non-medical, holistic companions who guide and support the dying in order to facilitate a gentle and peaceful death.

We draw on ancient skills and traditions, apply and adapt them to modern day life and death, and treat dying as a rite of passage and a precious and sacred journey.

A soul midwife provides emotional, spiritual, and holistic support for those who are dying, as well as the people around them. We can help ease the journey at the end of life by creating a calm, comforting, and sacred space, ensuring the carers and those dying feel seen, heard, safe and loved.

We can sit in the uncomfortable so you can feel comfort

As Soul Midwives we offer a deeply personal and human approach to death. It’s with loving kindness at this time, that I can support those facing end of life on the path ahead. I have a grounded presence and with the greatest of compassion it is my aim always to create a safe container, a sanctuary of calm loving reassurance and understanding for those approaching the end of life. By providing emotional, spiritual and holistic support for those dying as well as family, tribe and the village around them, knowing you do not have to do this alone.

We have deep knowledge of the stages of dying and of the emotional, physical and spiritual aspects of each stage. Using gentle and extremely powerful age-old skills along with therapeutic techniques, we are able to help in the easing of anxieties, supporting anyone to prepare for and experience the death they would like to have. My aim is always to be sensitive and caring to those nearing end of life.

As the journey unfolds, from diagnosis and beyond I will support you with gentle, non-clinical care. Soul midwifery is a support and complementary to professional medical and palliative care. I can advocate, offer education, explanation, deep listening and reassurance.I can support and help create space for the human experience surrounding death and this sacred transition and also ensure that all are seen, heard, safe and loved.

it is with so much gratitude to all of my mentors and teachers over the past years with particular thanks to Felicity Warner, Founder of Souls Midwives UK. Felicity held the missing links for me in this sacred work. Forever grateful.

some of the ways a soul midwife can help & support

Once, traditional rituals, community care and religious practices were common place in the west but sadly we have become detatched from what is the reality of dying and death. and unsure of how to navigate through the experiences of grief and loss. Sadly, over recent decades, many of these traditions and practices have now faded or disappeared.

Rituals and ceremony when someone was dying for generations was a place to gather, to mourn, to laugh, to cry, to eat and to make sense of the death process whilst caring and holding each other and being witnessed . These were not only anchors but supported the healing and grief process of losing someone you love and care for.

As a Soul Midwives, we feel strongley and passionately about the importance of returning to the ‘old ways’ of traditional practices and of bringing the most natural of realities, death ,back into the hands of ‘The Village’, the family, community and tribes.

My role is not to replace medical teams or other health professionals. Instead, I offer a different kind of companionship—one which makes space for the emotional, practical, spiritual and deeply human aspects of dying and saying goodbye.

My charges are inclusive of all cares whether day, evenings, nights and weekend presence for all therapeutic, practical support and tendering. This may just be a one-off phone call or visit or for continuing ongoing care, guidance and support, you will always know exactly what to expect.

Before we discuss if I am the right fit and become a part of your plans and the journey ahead, I offer a 1 hour complimentary get together which can be by phone, video call, or if local we can meet over a cup of tea. It is a chance for you, your loved ones, your tribe, to ask me any questions and to see if I am the right fit for you and walk through how I can be of service.

“If my heart had wings, it would surely be of an owl soaring through the radiant colours under a rising moon.

If my love were a flower, it would be an orchid in full bloom, pure, tender, open and radiant sharing through simplicity of being.

If my body were made of colours, I would be many flowers, the echo of my past life songs, the place of the dream time that has sang me anew.

My feet enriched each step and eyes bright in the mystery of life, here where my heart is in bloom.

I will be tender with my touch in final moments, for others to journey through, to hold gently the veil to the beyond, to sing them home to the path of the stars.

I walk, I dance, I sing my song, and weave myself in loves sweet trance

I welcome the journey
I hold true to my heart
My song will keep singing until my time to depart

I weave my life through grace, for I am
”
